c.1952 Automatic Toy Co., No.306 Space Rocket Ship in Original Box

Outstanding near mint+ tin litho No.306 Space Rocket Ship manufactured by Automatic Toy Company, Staten Island, NY. Early 1950's space vehicle in unused condition complete with pristine box and original warranty certificate.

Solidly built, embossed tinplate lithoed in yellow and orange, and highlighted with blue windows and blue exhaust. Neat twin wings pointing backwards and fused tail makes it closely resemble a swallow. Lithoed with catalog number, name, and company name.

Two large rubber tires power the internal friction drive motor. It also produces a loud grating sound. It still has its original unused flint for sparkling, however it no longer sparks. Outer sidewalls were also painted gloss black. This is the way it came from the factory. I don't recall seeing another toy with rubber tires that were intentionally painted.

Fabulous two color box shows simple illustration of rocket ship above the Earth's surface with meteorites, planets, etc. in the background. Toy name, company name, logo, printed on all side flaps.

Includes original warranty certificate which states that although the toy can be broken by overwinding the company will replace the toy for free plus 50 cents. Too bad it's not a wind-up toy.

Size: 8½.
